Afghanistan has been engaged in war for over thirty years. During this time, the Afghan population has suffered continuously from human rights violations. These atrocities have gone unpunished. Incredibly, some of those responsible for these violations are now members of the Afghan Parliament and other offices in the Afghan government. These same individuals have helped pass an amnesty law that ensures their immunity from prosecution for their crimes. While the Afghan population and civil rights groups fight for justice, the European Union and the United States continue to support this Afghan Government and Afghan Parliament.

Next September, elections will be held again for the Afghan Parliament. These elections are financed principally by the European Union and the United States. During these elections, some of the same war criminals will be standing as candidates. This is your opportunity to demand justice.
